Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Archie: Days Since ("Archie", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Archie iOS app, widgets, Apple Watch app, and related services.

Overview

Archie is designed to be local-first. You can create and use days-since cards without an account, sign-in, ads, or cross-app tracking. Most app data stays on your device and is used only to provide the app experience.

Some optional features, such as AI-generated quotes, require a network request. When you use those features, only the data needed to perform that feature is sent.

Data We Collect

Archie does not collect contact information, precise location, financial information, photos, health data, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.

Archie may process the following data:

• Card content you create: card names, dates, themes, selected quotes, reset history, personal bests, and related card settings. This data is stored on your device.
• Optional quote-generation data: when you ask Archie to write a quote, the app sends the card name, your locale, and a device identifier to our quote-generation service.
• Purchase status: Archie uses Apple StoreKit to determine whether Archie Plus is active. Apple handles payment information. We do not receive your full card details.
• Notifications: if you enable milestone notifications, notification scheduling data is used on your device to deliver those notifications.
• Diagnostics for quote generation: our quote service logs operational information such as response status, latency, locale, estimated cost, and a hashed device identifier. We do not intentionally log card names, generated quotes, IP addresses, transaction IDs, or payment details.

How We Use Data

We use data to:

• Create, edit, reset, archive, back up, restore, and display your days-since cards.
• Render Archie widgets on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, StandBy, and Apple Watch.
• Generate optional AI quotes when you request them.
• Verify Archie Plus access and restore purchases.
• Rate-limit quote generation and keep the service reliable.
• Deliver optional milestone notifications.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Data is shared only when needed to provide app functionality:

• Apple: handles App Store purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and purchase restoration.
• Google Cloud / Gemini: powers optional AI quote generation. Quote requests include the card name and locale needed to generate candidate quotes, plus a device identifier used for authorization and rate limiting.

If you use the share-card feature or export a .archie backup file, you choose where that file or image goes.

Data Retention

Card data remains on your device until you edit, archive, delete, reset, or remove the app data from your device. Device backups are handled by iOS backup features you enable.

Quote-service rate-limit and diagnostic records are retained only as long as needed for service reliability, abuse prevention, debugging, and cost monitoring. These logs are designed not to include card names or generated quote text.

Security

Archie uses Apple's platform protections for local app data. Network requests to the quote service use HTTPS/TLS. A device identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain and used to authorize and rate-limit quote requests.

No method of storage or transmission is perfect, but Archie is designed to collect as little data as practical for the features it provides.

Your Choices & Rights

You can use Archie without creating an account. You can delete cards in the app. You can turn off milestone notifications in the app or in iOS Settings. You can disable AI-generated quotes in Archie settings; when disabled, card names are not sent for quote generation.

Children’s Privacy

Archie is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact dev@emeraldapps.io.

International Transfers

If you use online features, your request may be processed in countries or regions other than where you live, including the United States.

App Tracking Transparency

Archie does not track you as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and does not request tracking permission.

Push Notifications

Milestone notifications are optional and off unless you enable them. Notifications are used only for Archie reminders and milestone alerts.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Archie changes. If the changes are material, we will update the date above and provide notice where appropriate.
